Cookie Policy

This policy covers what Tracklink stores in your browser and why. It applies to the public site and to the signed-in application.

1. Strictly necessary storage

These are set for you and cannot be turned off, because the service cannot work without them:

• Session and authentication cookies — keep you signed in and protect requests against cross-site forgery.
• Your cookie choice itself — stored in your browser under tl_analytics_consent so we do not ask again on every page. Remembering a decision does not itself require consent.

2. Analytics cookies — off until you say yes

We use PostHog to understand which parts of the product get used so we can improve them. It is switched off by default: until you accept, PostHog captures nothing and writes no cookies. If you accept, it stores a device identifier so repeat visits can be counted as one person rather than many.

Declining is not a degraded experience — every feature works the same either way.

3. Error monitoring

We use Sentry to record diagnostic information when something breaks — the error, the page it happened on, and the account it happened to, so we can fix it and tell you it is fixed. This is used to keep the service working and to investigate faults, not to build a profile of you or to advertise to you.

4. Click analytics on your short links

This section is about visitors who click a Tracklink short link, who may never visit this site at all.

Redirects do not set a tracking cookie on the visitor's browser. To report the click we look at the request itself: the IP address, the user agent, and the referring page. The IP is resolved to a country and city using MaxMind GeoIP, then replaced with a salted one-way hash. The hash lets us count a repeat visitor without keeping the address it came from.

If you are a customer, you are the controller of that click data and we process it for you. How long it is kept depends on your plan's retention period.

5. Changing your mind

Use the control in section 2 to withdraw or give analytics consent at any time — it takes effect immediately and takes no more effort than granting it did. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop you being able to sign in.
